The Killing Lessons by Saul Black - Book Review

Image
The Killing Lessons came out in 2015, and since then, Saul Black has published two other books that belong to this series reloving around a detective called Valerie Hart.  This book is about a serial killer that goes by the name of Xander. There are two criminals, but Xander is the alpha and everything that he says has to be done. They’ve been on a rampage for three years, killing women, then stuffing an object in certain areas of the victim’s body. And since the first killing, Valerie Hart has been on this chase to find these serial killers. Finally, there is a new lead after another woman has been taken. The question that we all have is, does Valerie manage to find the killers before they brutally murder their eleventh victim? I started to like this book from the moment I saw it in the bookshop, the cover of the book is rather daunting, a simple white background with blood splatters and a fly as if we were at a scene of a crime. At the bottom of the cover, it said “ Do not read this.

Jack Daniel's Distillery - Lynchburg, Tennessee

Image
Are you a person who loves a glass of Jack?  Then the tour that is given at Jack Daniel’s Distillery is the place for you.  The Distillery is based in Lynchburg, Tennessee, but, unfortunately, for now, tours are closed due to the pandemic taking control. But in the year 2014, I went on the tour with my family to see how this popular whiskey became beloved to many.  What did the tour entail?  There are four different tours to choose from. When we were there we chose the simplest one, but it still was very informative and we experienced a lot. The tours are all over an hour, and very worth the cost.  Jack Daniel’s past has a few mysteries, the most common one is that no one actually truly knows when he was born, they only know the year, 1850. His true name was Jasper Newton Daniel and he was just over five feet tall. The journey of creating whiskey started as a preteen at the age of 13.  His death is rather famous, as everyone on the tour has the chance to stand in the room where he had

Never Greener by Ruth Jones - Book Review

You might recognise the name, Ruth Jones, not only is she one of the writers for the beloved series Gavin and Stacey , but she also acted as Nessa, the mother of baby Neal. It was about time that Ruth Jones jumped across to novel writing, but I am sure she will carry on writing scripts as well. Never Greener is her debut novel and came out in 2019.  The novel is about Kate, who is twenty-two in the year 1985. She has an affair with a married man, Callum, who’s in his late thirties. Seventeen years later - 2002 - Kate is a successful actress and married with a child. Callum is still married to his wife, with three children, we learn pretty quickly that his wife found out about the affair but decided to stay with him. However, after nearly two decades the pair bump into each other, and what do you know, they end up rekindling their affair. Of course, any reader can tell that they will be found out, and they are and end up staying together, but it is not all that it seems to be.  When fin
