Don’t Want To Miss A Thing by Jill Mansell - Book Review

Image
In my opinion, Jill Mansell is a great writer, she will be put in the top three of my favourite authors. My first book I read by her, An Offer You Can’t Refuse, when I was thirteen. It’s her books that have made me want to write romance, and novels revolved around strong women.  The novel: Don’t Want To Miss A Thing came out in 2013. It is about Dexter and Molly, and although everyone can tell by the blurb that these two characters will end up with each other, it is the story that blossoms between these two that hook any reader to learn how they end up with one another. Dexter moves next door to Molly, after having to become the full guardian of his sister’s eight month old daughter, Delphi, after his sister sadly passes away.  The book takes around five months. During this time, Molly and Dexter become closer as friends, and both ignoring their feelings for one another. Doing this leads them both into other relationships with different people. Throughout these months we learn the

Universal Orlando Resort - Orlando, Florida

Do you love theme parks? Do you love the thrills and the excitement they give to you? Making your stomach fizz up as you zoom up and swing upside down? If you are like me, then you would have answered, yes. There are many theme parks in the world, but there is one theme park you should definitely go to if you have the chance, and that is the Universal Orlando Resort.  When I was in Florida, in the summer of 2014, with some of my Dutch side of the family, we crammed as much as possible in those three full days that we had with them. Not only did we go to Disney World, and then Wet ‘n’ Wild water park, we also had the chance to go to Universal Orlando Resort.  I loved Disney World due to my childhood love, but the rides at Universal were faster, more crazy and for more adults ﹘ don’t get me wrong they did also have a child area. I can’t choose my favourite ride, all I know is that I want to go on them all again. If you are planning on going to Universal Orlando Resort, here are some of m

The Love Square by Laura Jane Williams - Book Review.

Before reading this I would like to put a trigger warning that this book review does mention cancer.  Laura Jane Williams debut novel, Our Stop , came out in 2019, it was such a successful hit that fans were waiting for her second book to come out. And then it finally did, a year later in 2020. I bought this book last summer, I recognised the author’s name from reading her debut novel, and decided because I liked the storyline of Our Stop , I’ll buy this book.  From the title of this novel, anyone can guess it is a romance. It starts with a prologue where we are introduced to protagonist Penny. She’s saying goodbye to London, to her cafe, and to Francesco. We then travel back to a month, where we meet single Penny and learn quite a few things about her. She is a survivor of breast cancer, and has also lost her mum to this at a young age. Her dad left and she and her sister were raised by their uncle. We learn that she really wants children, and is thinking of doing it alone without a p

Writing A Synopsis

Image
There comes a stage in your writing life when you start thinking about publishing the work that you have created. If you want to publish your novel through the traditional way, then you will need an agent. But how does one get an agent? With great difficulty, unless you are extremely lucky and achieve an agent from the first person you send your work to.  When sending your work to an agent, there are a few documents that you must send to them. In most cases they ask for the first three chapters of your novel, a cover letter, and a synopsis.  Today, I will give you tips on writing a synopsis.  You might be wondering, why should I listen to a person who still does not have an agent? I’ll tell you why, not only have I learnt tips from University, but I am also at the stage of sending my work to agents, and therefore I am writing my synopsis.  A synopsis is a summary of your novel, it’s a way for your agent to understand what else happens in your book after the first three chapters. Stay With Me by Ayòbámi Adébáyò - Book Review

Image
To start off with, this book isn’t one I would normally go for. It isn’t a romance, nor a YA. It’s not a thriller or a crime novel, it is a book about real life problems that many people go through. However, I still bought this book due to expanding my knowledge, as I believe it is important to read something you normally wouldn’t. You can tell just by reading the blurb that Ayòbámi Adébáyò has taken time to make sure the title for this book is the perfect one. The title Stay With Me links with many themes that Adébáyò has included in this novel.  The novel is set in 1980s Nigeria. It is about the marriage of Yejide and Akin. They’ve been married for years, and still everyone is waiting for them to have a child. We learn straight away that Akin has married again, a plan hatched by his mother as she hopes this wife will bring him a child. Due to this, Yejide is determined to become pregnant, trying many different things as a hope to start this miracle journey. Thus, she sets herself to
