Universal Orlando Resort - Orlando, Florida

Do you love theme parks? Do you love the thrills and the excitement they give to you? Making your stomach fizz up as you zoom up and swing upside down? If you are like me, then you would have answered, yes. There are many theme parks in the world, but there is one theme park you should definitely go to if you have the chance, and that is the Universal Orlando Resort.

When I was in Florida, in the summer of 2014, with some of my Dutch side of the family, we crammed as much as possible in those three full days that we had with them. Not only did we go to Disney World, and then Wet ‘n’ Wild water park, we also had the chance to go to Universal Orlando Resort.  I loved Disney World due to my childhood love, but the rides at Universal were faster, more crazy and for more adults ﹘ don’t get me wrong they did also have a child area. I can’t choose my favourite ride, all I know is that I want to go on them all again. If you are planning on going to Universal Orlando Resort, here are some of my most memorable rides that you should try, and hopefully some are still there after six years of me visiting.

  • The Incredible Hulk - Although the movie that came out in 2008 wasn’t the best in the MCU, the ride was amazing. With speed and double loops. It was the first upside down ride that I went on, and boy was I scared. We were lucky enough to go on the ride three times.

  • Fearfall - Do not go on this one if you are afraid of heights, I will never ever go on it again. While waiting in the queue, there were videos covering the walls saying: ‘Don’t go on if you are afraid of heights.’ And there I was standing there thinking, nah, I’ll be fine. The view was amazing when we were sitting at the top with our feet dangling, but even after six years I can still feel the fear beating in my ears and chest.

  • Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Ride - This water ride knew what it was doing. It kept on having drops, splashing water over us. Every time we thought it was the big drop, it wasn’t; it kept us in suspense. We ended up soaked, but luckily it was sunny and we dried up pretty quickly.

  • Popeye’s ride - This ride is where you sit around a wooden dinghy, and float around the dangerous water. The great thing about this ride was that you would think you were about to get wet, but due to the dips and the current being crazy the ride will spin around and get another person, who was laughing at you, soaked.

  • Jurassic Park River - We went on the older ride of Jurassic Park, but it was still a lot of fun. I remember jumping as a little dinosaur poked up from the water, and it wasn’t only my family who laughed at me, it was all of the other strangers who were on this ride with us as well.

  • Harry Potter - There are a few rides in this area, might be more now than six years ago. But the ride you must go on is the Forbidden Journey. The ride takes place in the castle, you sit in a line in a group of four, they put the over-shoulder seat belt, although you don’t go upside down, you do twist around a lot. This ride was magical, it seemed like you were flying around as if you were only of the wizards of Hogwarts. We also saw all the different creatures that entered the Harry Potter World.

I would love to go again, of course once Covid no longer is a problem ﹘ who knows when that will be. It will most likely be over five years, and it will be so strange to be around many people. Hopefully, if you do have a chance to go to Universal Orlando Resort, you too will have an amazing time!
