Graceland & Sun Studio - Elvis Presley - Memphis, Tennessee

To all music lovers, this is one for you.

Known as the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley blessed everyone with his low soulful voice. He was born on 8th January 1935. Became a singer in 1954. Sadly passed away after having a heart attack due to his drug addiction on 16th August 1977.
Still to this day many singers resing his songs and give it their own twist. One of the most popular songs that people love to record over and over again is: Can’t Help Falling In Love. A beautiful magical song about the true nature of love. Elvis, himself, even knew how popular this song was and would normally sing this song to close his concerts.

If you ever have the chance to go to Memphis, a must is to visit these landmarks.

His home in Graceland is known to be the most visited home in the United State, with more than 500,000 visits per year. And you could be one of them.
Tours are common to explore the nooks and cranny of Elvis’ home, to walk where he once did. Just be aware that there is an area upstairs that is forbidden for the public, the place where Elvis would go for privacy.

Or, you could, as my family did, just have a peek over the stone wall that circles this home. This famous Graceland wall was installed in 1957. Many people, even celebrities, have written messages all over this wall, stating their love for this King.
Trust me, it’s fine to write your name on the wall.
Special fact: Bruce Springsteen is known to be one of the many people to trespass, hoping to meet Elvis. Unlucky for him, this illegal act didn’t pay off as Elvis was not at home.

Not only should you visit the home of Elvis, but you should go to Sun Studio where Elvis was discovered.  You could simply go into the bar, where the stools have names of all of the famous people that sang at this studio, or you could also go on the tour.  On the tour, you have the chance to explore the rooms where Elvis had the chance to record his soulful voice. To take pictures and pretend that you are singing. The record room is covered with black and white pictures of many other singers, such as Jerry Lee Lewis.  Not only do you have a chance to listen to different records, that no one else will hear unless they go on a tour at Sun Studio, you learn many different facts about this King.

The Facts:  Elvis would pay theme parks to shut early or for the day, to take his date on the rides, so they wouldn’t have to queue nor be distracted by his fans wanting his autograph. He starred in thirty-three successful films.  Although he recorded around 600s songs in his career, he never actually wrote the songs. Instead, in the contract, the writers had to give up 50% of their rights and give it to Elvis, making it seem like he co-wrote his songs.  His most popular songs were: Can’t Help Falling In Love and Jailhouse Rock.

No matter what people think of Elvis. We can all agree that the songs he sang are ones that we will always remember, and whenever we hear them, we think of the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll.
