Book Lovers by Emily Henry - Book Review

It was obvious the moment I saw this title that I was going to buy this book, hello, it's called Book Lovers. That is me, I am the book lover. When I bought this book, the woman who was serving me mentioned how Emily Henry was a fantastic writer and that after this book, I would want to read more by her. She is correct, I really do want to read more books by this author, because not only do these characters go on a journey of love, but also the readers.

Book Lovers focus on Nora, a literary agent, and Charlie, a book editor. These two end up bumping into each other when Nora and her younger sister decide to go on a quick holiday to Sunshines Falls, North Carolina for the whole of August. However, this is not the first time the two have bumped into each other, in fact, they have seen each other quite a few times and it is never cute. But throughout this month in the sun, it might be seen that this pair start falling for each other more and more. After all, this is a romance book, and remember, you can't have a book in the romance genre if the main couple does not end up with one another.

One area which I really love is although we see Nora grow as a person, her core does not change. At the start, she is ambitious and hardworking, and she is still those traits at the end of the novel; it's just by the end she has learnt more about herself and what she wants to do with her life. We've seen it countless times where the main woman who is driven and always works hard is taken down a notch by the end of the novel as if she is not allowed to be those things. However, whenever it is the man with the same traits, it never really ends the same.
On top of that, (this might be a spoiler, so read if you dare) but we learn Nora does not want her own children, and quite a few times, to show character development the woman ends up becoming pregnant to show the reason she said that before is because she had yet to meet the right one, and once she did she realised that she would want to get pregnant. However, in this case, Nora never changed into wanting children, because simply it was not because she had not found the right one, it was because she just did not want them. Having her stay like that was perfect because she still has it all even if it's not how people would picture it.
I also really loved how realistic the dialogue felt, it was very easy to visualise these conversations between Nora and Charlie as it felt just like how people speak nowadays. I loved their dialogue so much that I would reread them, not because I did not understand what was happening, but simply because I really enjoyed the banter between the two characters.

I am sure that I will be reading more of Emily Henry's novels as these happy romances are one of the reasons I enjoy reading, which is why I will be giving this 5/5 stars.
