What Will 2023 Look Like? - Dear Luna

Dear Luna,

Here we are finally in 2023, and for many people whatever happens on the first day sets off how the rest of the year will look like. Last year, I had thrown up (don’t worry I held it in until I was given a bucket, I’m good at that). And with that 2022 would ultimately go down the drain, I mean… In some ways, it wasn’t the best year because I didn’t really take charge in my career I kind of expected things to happen without doing anything.
But not this year. No, this year I’m going to take life by the rails and manifest and work for my dream. I am making it happen because this is my life and now it’s not the time to be afraid of failure, but I should be more afraid of not trying.

Perhaps that is why so many people love to do New Year's resolutions. After all, it’s a new year, it’s the best time to try something new. A new year has endless possibilities and endless paths that one can go down. Sure, maybe I won’t achieve my big dream (no I am not self-doubting myself) but you better believe I will be one step closer to my life goal.
Romance novels named under my pen name Italia Holland and fantasy/YA novels named under S.J.Glatzhofer.

But I think we should all agree no matter how our year starts, it should not dictate how our year will look like. Every day is a new day. Every day brings new challenges. Every day is a new slate, a do-over.

This year has already started like no other. I counted down to midnight on the beach, shouting happy new year with my cousin and some friends we made at a bar. And I think I am inspired by how this year started to continue with it throughout 2023. Making this year like no other.

Just like anyone, I also have a list of what I want to achieve this year — I guess in some ways this is a list of resolutions.

1. I will write a Christmas novel, and self-publish it around the same time my sister’s Christmas song comes out.

2. I will complete the second draft of my fantasy novel, The Gemini Curse, by August. I think that is a good time frame.

3. I will sign a book deal for my romance novel, Nobody Compares.

4. I will have a long weekend in Paris (alone or with friends).

5. I will be hired by a publishing house.

6. I will run a half marathon

Six things to achieve might seem impossible, but I think it is doable. I have 365 days to do so, although I do believe I will do the last four when I arrive back home after my travels. But for the first two, I can start them right here in Asia.

Happy New Year!!

Until next time, Luna ❤️❤️❤️
