Top Seven Books of 2022

Reading has always been some sort of love language for me. It’s one of the areas that helped me overcome my speaking problems as it gave me a chance to see how words were spelt and pronounced. As 2022 comes to an end, I now have a chance to look back at all the books I have read this year which is more than the many book reviews I have written.
In this blog, I will go through my top seven books I read this year, with a mini-review. It was originally five, but I just couldn't choose… oh well.😅😅
The genre of these will be a mixture of fantasy and romance, and they are in no order.

The Skin Of The Sea by Natasha Bowen

This novel revolves around simidele who is a Mami Wata, a water spirit who passes the souls that have drowned in the sea. Bowen was inspired by the little mermaid and the Yoruba mythology, and after someone told her that mermaids could not be black she knew she had to prove them wrong.

The main reason why I enjoyed this novel is that I have always loved legends and myths, and meeting some of the deities who created these myths was a joy to read. To read my full review, click here.

Book Lovers by Emily Henry

You might have guessed the main reason as to why I bought this book is because of the title, and you are correct as I, too, am a book lover. This romance novel had everything which is needed in one, it of course had the romance, the excitement, and the banter.

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins

This novel took hold of TikTok and everyone could not stop talking about it including me. Being bisexual myself, it was a joy to see a protagonist who shares the same sexuality as me. This novel truly showed the difficulty of being a bisexual woman in the golden age of Hollywood, and showcase how better life is here for the LGBT community, although it can still be better.

Fastest Way To Fall by Denise Williams

If you are looking to fall in love with romance once again then this novel is the one for you. Also, if you are looking for romance novels where the main character is a plus-size woman, then stop right here because this book has just that. And I hope, if this novel is adapted, they do not swap the size of our protagonist, Britta, with a smaller person, something that has happened multiple times.

Meet Me In Another Life by Catriona Silvey

This novel is nothing I have read before, mixed with elements of sci-fi, love, and fantasy, Meet Me In Another Life keeps you on your toes. Throughout the whole novel, you are on a journey with these characters trying to figure out why they keep on meeting one another in different timelines.

The Idea Of You by Robinne Lee

You might have heard, but this novel is now being adapted into a movie or series. With that, you might believe that this novel was a fanfiction about Harry Styles. It might have been inspired by the idea of this singer when he was in his boy band era, but it is not a fan-fiction (although, there is nothing wrong with that). Like any writer, Lee was inspired by this singer, and her imagination carried on as she wondered what would happen if a mother fell for a singer from her daughter's favourite band.

The Idea Of You has you rooting for these two even with everything they face.

How To Fail At Flirting by Denise Williams

Yes, another book by Denise Williams is being added to this list, I just couldn't choose between the books of hers I read this year. Just like her other novel, this one truly shows how love is supposed to feel. If you are like me, when reading the way Jake and Naya are with each other, all you can hope for is to have a chance like that as well. Williams' use of description made you feel you were part of this world, making you not want to put this book down.

I wonder what wonderful books 2023 will bring.
